“COVAX is a failure because there are many countries that are not contributing. This is not the case for Spain, which is one of the main contributors, but there are other countries that are not doing so and we have to insist. We need patent liberalisation and also for these countries to have access to the knowledge and technologies to produce vaccines.”

This week international attention will be on important security talks on the Russian military build-up along the Ukrainian border. On Monday, representatives will meet in Geneva. On Wednesday, it will be top of the agenda at NATO in Brussels. Our Group supports all diplomatic efforts to maintain peace and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Commissioner Hahn is coming to the Parliament’s budget committee on Thursday, to discuss the Own Resources Package. Our position is clear - to pay for the recovery, we need also a proposal which shall include a Financial Transaction Tax and an own resource linked to the corporate sector.
