You have to pay your taxes, so why shouldn’t the rich and super rich, as well as big businesses, pay? We want to ensure that everyone pays their fair share of taxes in Europe.
In recent years, tax evasion and tax avoidance have become a major focus of concern within the EU and worldwide.
Currently, the EU tax evasion gap is as high as €825 billion per year. This is about 5 times the yearly budget of the EU. These numbers do not even include the illicit practice of tax avoidance.
While tax dodging remains a problem, corporate income tax rates have dropped by 46% since 2000. We must put a stop to this tax race to the bottom.
Europe is not about allowing big businesses to operate within the lowest possible tax brackets.
The EU can work for us by modernising our national tax systems to make taxation fairer right across the board.
Our Europe is about being responsible and encouraging fair competition, where everyone pays their taxes.
