Upcoming activities
Busy days ahead for our S&D members, as we prepare for the last Plenary session before the European elections!

Meanwhile, we’re all set for another week of events and committee/Group work. Check out some of the highlights below.

On Monday, April 8, Udo Bullmann and the Progressive Society team will be in Lisbon, Portugal. This is a part of our President’s European tour to present the findings on our vision for a sustainable Europe. He’ll be joined by a team of specialists that have drafted the report, but also by Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa and Mayor of Lisbon, Fernando Medina.
More details on the program of the meeting here.

Brexit will again dominate the news next week, with a special EU summit, scheduled on April 10. Our members will also prepare the agenda fort the next Plenary session, which includes the final vote on protection of whistle-blowers, the InvestEU programme, CO2 reduction targets for trucks, as well as a debate on the Future of Europe with Latvian Prime Minister, Arturs Krišjānis Kariņš.
In committees on Monday, we will monitor two sensitive votes on preventing terrorist content online and an update of the 2008 Return Directive (for non-EU regular migrants).

We will also keep an eye on the debate on the introduction of Article 7 procedures against Hungary, on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, April 10, we’ll be joining our partners in the Committee of the Regions for an event on the role of cities an regions in building a sustainable futureA press conference will be hosted at 14:00, at the Eropean Committee of the Regions (Room JDE52, 5th floor).

Almost three years ago we’ve embarked on a journey. This journey took us all over our Union, from Valencia to Prague, Copenhagen to Vienna to Brussels, Helsinki and beyond. We’ve meet politicians and citizens and we’ve given them a platform to speak, contribute and - hopefully - make a difference in the world we live in.
It’s time to bring this journey to an end. On April 12 we’re taking our #EuropeTogether debate to Hungary, a country where democracy is challenged now in so many ways.

Registrations, the list of speakers and the full program are available here.On the eve of the Together event, the team will be in Nyírbátor, for a Go Local event focused on the social Europe.
