Upcoming activities
Next week, we commemorate the second anniversary of David Sassoli’s untimely departure. He served as president of the European Parliament and a great European who devoted his life to the progressive cause.
On this occasion, Group president Iratxe García Pérez and the members of the S&D Bureau are going to Rome where they will participate in an event organised by our group - ‘David Sassoli’s Legacy: a journey towards a new Europe’.
The event will take place on Friday, 12 January 2024, from 09.30 to 12.30 at the Protomoteca hall in Campidoglio, the City Council of Rome. Registration is open to join the event in Rome. You can follow the live streaming on our website www.socialistsanddemocrats.eu
On Wednesday, 10 January 2024, the S&D Group is looking forward to welcoming a Delegation from the SPD Parliamentary Group in the Bundestag, led by its Leader Rolf Mützenich. In a crucial year ahead of the European Elections in June 2024, the Delegation will join the S&D Group for an exchange on current political topics and issues that matter to the people. In the morning, the Delegation will discuss with the S&D vice-presidents in the S&D Bureau. They will then join the S&D Group and have a wider exchange with all MEPs.

At 10.00, a press point will be organised in front of the S&D Group room (JAN4Q2) with statements from S&D Group president Iratxe García Pérez, SPD Group Leader Rolf Mützenich, EP vice-president Katarina Barley and the Head of the SPD-Delegation Jens Geier.
