Gianni Pittella, president of the Socialists & Democrats Group in the European Parliament, has called for unity from the different political factions in the Parliament in response to the terrorist attacks in Paris and around the globe.
President Gianni Pittella said:
"The comments made by Manfred Weber earlier today that we are blocking progress on the Passenger Name Record Directive are simply untrue. As the EPP Group well knows, we voted in favour of this legislation in the Parliament and trilogues are ongoing as planned. We must resist using a tragedy to score political points. Let us stand united and defeat terror and extremism together."
