Collective bargaining must be guaranteed for the Greek citizens

Following a meeting today in Athens with the Greek Prime minister Alexis Tsipras, Gianni Pittella said:

"Greece has already paid an enormous price for unjustified austerity.

"We call on the Eurogroup and creditors to conclude the second review of the adjustment programme.

"Greece is a European democracy and the creditors should understand that European standards and the acquis, particularly in the field of the working relations, must be respected and applied.

"In particular collective bargaining must be guaranteed for all."

Gianni Pittella's visit to Athens started with a meeting with the president of the Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos and with commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos.

In the framework of his European tour of meetings with the leaders of the centre left parties, Gianni met with Fofi Gennimata, President of Dimokratiki Parataxi, and  Stavros Theodorakis, leader of To Potami.

Gianni Pittella was also awarded the honorary citizenship of Athens for his support to the Greek people.
