Defending the rule of law is one of the big challenges facing Europe at the moment, with governments in Hungary and Poland intent on undermining the independence of judges and the legal system, as well as attacking fundamental rights, especially of LGBTI+ people, and freedom of the press. In the first of our new Lunch Talks on the Future of Europe, S&D MEP Katarina Barley will be in conversation with Peter Matjašič from the Open Society Initiative for Europe to discuss solutions and ideas for how we can make a better future for Europe.
