Our budgetary control committee work
The committee examines whether or not European funds have been used correctly and policy goals achieved. Our MEPs also look at the performance and goals of different EU funded projects.
Our achievements
S&D members are able to ensure that the European institutions are held to account on financial expenditure, transparency of spending and their processes. For example, in September 2018, we were able to get cross-party support to call for a review into the Commission's procedure for appointing senior officials following the Selymar scandal which showed a disregard to basic values such as transparency, integrity and equal opportunities.
