After proofs of external interferences and disinformation campaigns in European elections and public debates, the S&D Group successfully managed to set up a Special Committee to shed light on these practices jeopardising European democracy.

The Special Committee will formulate proposals to respond to these threats: defining a common European strategy, new tools to fight cyber attacks, regulating better the funding of political parties, assessing the responsibility of internet and social media platforms as well as increasing financial support for independent journalism, research and fact-checking.
