On October 13, the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament organised an event on the Circular Economy.

Commissioner Vella spoke on the state of play of the EU Action Plan for the Circular Economy, while our rapporteur Simona Bonafé commented on the discussions in the European Parliament on the legislative waste package.

A deeper view on the challenges and possibilities of the circular economy was given by keynote speaker Walter Stahel and by specialists who focused on the three priority material groups: plastics, technology metals and bio-based products.

We also explored the potential of ecodesign, reuse and remanufacturing, as well as the possibilities of closing the loop for transport vehicles (planes, ships and cars).
