Quote of the week
Workers are the backbone of our societies, the fight for their rights remains at the core of our social democratic agenda. Trade unions and workers' parties have often succeeded in taming capitalism nationally. However, in times of digitization and cross-border employment, we now must and can succeed at European level.

Upcoming activities
One day to go! This Saturday, May 4, all European institutions are opening their doors to welcome everyone who is interested in finding more about how the European Union works. We’ll be there, joined by several of our Members, ready to answer people’s questions and tell them about our parliamentary work in the mandate that is just ending.
Of course, games and music will also be on our agenda. So join us this Saturday, from 10.00 to 18.00 on the 3rd floor of the European Parliament for the EU Open Days!

This year’s edition of the Open Days happily coincides with the 15th anniversary of the largest enlargement process of the EU, when no less than 10 countries joined our Union. Another reason to look back at our history and achievements and celebrate.

Next stop - Strasbourg. We will be there on May 19 and the debates, games and music will also be on the agenda.

And save the date for May 18! It’s time for the rainbow event of the year in Brussels - the Belgian Pride. We’ll be there alongside our partners at Rainbow Rose, marching for the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community in Belgium and all over Europe. You can find more details about this year’s Pride here.

With all parliamentary work wrapped up, we are getting ready for the highlight of this month - the European Elections. Scheduled to take place from 23 to 26 May, this exercise is crucial to ensuring continuity in the EU’s only elected institution.
