Our societies are haunted by a multitude of increasingly devastating crises – life-threatening climate change, growing inequalities, economic instability, the rise of populism, and most recently a global pandemic, to name but a few.
On behalf of the S&D Group in the European Parliament, the Independent Commission for Sustainable Equality, a group of 25 eminent experts and policymakers, has developed ‘The Great Shift’, a report that seeks to develop a comprehensive policy roadmap to overcome this global meta-crisis. The Great Shift contains 242 concrete policy recommendations to transform today’s crisis-ridden societies into sustainable and more equal and fair communities.
