Trade and gender are more linked than one may think.

Trade Policies naturally affect the sectoral composition of the economy, magnifying or reducing gender inequality.

One year after the adoption of the Buenos Aires Declaration on Trade and Women’s Economic Empowerment, the world is looking at policy makers more than ever to come up with more gender-responsive trade policies.

In February 2018, the European Parliament has adopted an Initiative Report on “Gender equality in EU trade Agreements”.

To find out how this helped shape the EU trade policy regarding ongoing and future negotiations, and what lessons can we learn from other progressive global actors, please come and join us at the S&D Seminar on Gender and Trade, on Wednesday 6 February, 15.00-17.30 in room ASPA3G3.
