Police and judicial co-operation

Police and judicial co-operation

Police and judicial co-operation in criminal matters is vital to guarantee citizens' fundamental rights, provide justice for victims and offenders and fight criminal organisations that operate in several countries. We want to establish a single European area of justice to ensure mutual legal assistance and co-operation between judicial authorities. We need EU-level tools for effective police co-operation (such as the European Arrest Warrant and the European Investigation Order) and guaranteed high standards on issues such as victims' rights, the Letter of Rights, the right to information, access to legal advice and protection of vulnerable suspects. These measures will build mutual trust between national authorities and guarantee equal treatment of citizens across Europe.
