“Shame, shame, shame. We can’t find a more suitable word to stress our deepest indignation, sorrow and anger for the disgraceful chemical attack on the Syrian city of Khan Sheikhoun. Dozens have been killed, including many children. Shame on those who are directly responsible for this, shame on those who are politically responsible for this and shame on all those at an international level who allow this damned war to continue killing innocent people.
We call on the UN to react. We call on the Syrian regime and allies to immediately stop the attacks and on the international community, including Assad’s allies, the US, the EU and its member states to protect civilians and find a diplomatic solution for peace. Let’s put an end to this damned war.”

Past activities
We are one step closer seeing the end of roaming charges! Post-Brexit negotiations are about to get underway, as our President has stated - “Brexit is not what we wanted to happen. But it did. Now we will hammer out the best possible agreement for Europe and European citizens. Nevertheless, we hope that the UK will remain close to our ideals and our model of society”. And also, the Dieselgate scandal has reached a new level. These were just a few of the topics on last week’s Plenary agenda.

Activities (summary)
The 2017 School of Democracy in Reggio Emilia and the European Parliament Open Days, both in Brussels and in Strasbourg are the two events we are looking forward in the upcoming period.

Upcoming activities
Following the developments of the situation in Syria will be one priority for our Group in the following period. Protecting civilians and providing a diplomatic solution to end the conflict is what we want to achieve. As European Progressives we stand by HRVP Federica Mogherini in looking for a solution to de-escalate the conflict.
One event we are looking forward to in the coming weeks is the third edition of the School of Democracy. The lively and interactive event will be back for another session this April, in Reggio Emilia, Italy and we are looking forward to meeting 100 young democrats aged 18 to 25 from Europe and beyond in order to start a debate on the most important topics our Union is facing, both within and outside its borders.
Our President and team will be traveling there on April 19, for a three-day debate with the young generation.

It’s been one year since the Panama leaks came out - a giant leak of more than 11.5 million financial and legal records exposing a system that enables crime, corruption and wrongdoing, hidden by secretive offshore companies. This year’s Open Days are also coming closer. This is the perfect opportunity for all those interested to come and visit our stands - On May 6th in Brussels and May 14th in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. This is an opportunity for everyone to learn about the day-to-day work of the institutions, as well as the broader issues, challenges and benefits of the European Union for its 508 million citizens.
