Following the terrorist attacks carried out in Copenhagen yesterday and last night, the president of the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament, Gianni Pittella, stated:
"A new terrorist attack; new casualties. The violence of a few criminals will never overcome our democracy. Threats from terrorists will never succeed in forcing us into silence. Every attempt to extinguish our freedom of expression will be answered by millions of European voices crying out our refusal: in Paris as in Belgium, in Copenhagen as in Nigeria, Libya or Syria.
"We in the S&D Group offer our fullest solidarity and our condolences to the people of Denmark and to the families of the victims."
